It wouldn’t be a credit card points and miles blog or channel or whatever this is without the obligatory what’s in my wallet, right? Since I only have two minutes to read this before it self-destructs, we better get on it.
The Membership Rewards Army
Amex Platinum | This is for the 5x on flights, the perks, and the simple, objective fact that I am a fancy lady. If I’m not eating a tiny complimentary cube of cheese in a terminal, am I even traveling?
Amex Gold | 4x on dining and supermarkets is essential. Plus, I found a No Lifetime Language link and, like a feral animal, I simply could not say no.
Amex Green | I travel, I transit, I live for Membership Rewards. What’s not to like?
Amex Blue Business Plus | A 2x catch-all. Who’s going to balk at 2x Membership Rewards? Not me. Do I wish I didn’t have to have this card because Amex had a personal version? Most days.
Rakuten Card | I REALLY like Membership Reward points. If Rakuten let me earn points for breathing, I’d be hyperventilating right now.
My MQD Addiction
Amex Delta Reserve & Delta Business Reserve | Yes, I have both. Yes, that is two annual fees. Why? Because MQDs are my literal weakness. I am a moth, and Delta SkyMiles status is the flame. Also, the companion pass has been good to me, and who am I to turn that down?
Don’t We All Like Trains?
Amtrak Guest Rewards Preferred | I live in the Northeast. I want to use Amtrak more. I want to sit on a train, look at the Hudson, and support the rails while earning points that only three people in this zip code understand.
Gotta Stay Somewhere
Amex Hilton Honors Business | Yes, I still like Hilton. We have a history.
Chase IHG Premier | …but I really like IHG. It’s the reliable ex who always has a room available and gives you the fourth night free. I can’t quit you, Holiday Inn Express.
Everything Else
Chase Freedom Unlimited | Everyone needs a Visa. It’s the plain white T-shirt of my wallet. It’s not exciting, but it’s there when the merchant looks at my Amex and says, “We don’t do that here.”
Apple Card | I buy Apple stuff. I buy it often.
Bilt Palladium | I was raccooned by a toddler. Don’t ask. It involves a very persuasive small human and a series of events I still don’t fully understand.
U.S. Bank Shopper Cash | Amazon and Walmart are places I shop even when I wish I didn’t. This card is my emotional compensation for being an American consumer. 6% back is the only thing keeping me from cussing them under my breath more than I already do.
U.S. Bank Cash+ | My phone bill is not going to give me cash back out of the goodness of its heart. I’ve automated the boring stuff so I can focus on the chaos.
TD Bank Cash | Everyone needs entertainment, right? This is the “I’m going to a concert and pretending the ticket wasn’t $400” card.
So…is it a lot of cards?
Yes.
Does my wallet weigh three pounds?
Also yes.
Do I need all of them?
That’s between me, my spreadsheet, and the universe.
And if you’re still here, I’m sorry to report this post has now self-destructed. The cards remain. They always do.
